Barbecue Rub for Pork and Beef

We are especially fond of this barbecue rub for flank steak. My family eats it as an appetizer without any barbecue sauce at all. Just follow the directions below. We leave it in the smoker for about four hours. Every time we have it, there are no leftovers.

Smoked Flank Steak

Here is a picture of a smoked flank steak Dave just took out of the smoker. It was gone in just a few minutes and no sauce was needed.

1 cup brown sugar
1/8 to 1/4 cup sea salt
1/8 cup black pepper
1/4 cup paprika
2 tsp. garlic powder
2 tbsp. poultry seasoning
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix ingredients well. Cover until ready to use.

Then when ready, cover meat completely with the rub. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. When your smoker is ready, put the meat in and cook. After the meat has reached its appropriate temperature, according to your meat thermometer, remove it from your smoker. Let it set for 10 minutes before slicing or pulling, whichever is your preference.

Add BBQ sauce as necessary for your taste. Enjoy!
