Energy Conservation in our Home

Energy conservation is a subject that is becoming more important every day as everything is becoming more and more expensive. Yet, our incomes are not rising at the same rate.

We are developing this section of our website to address the growing problem. It is not only good for the planet, but good to help all of us to save money. In today’s economy, saving money means having more to do the things you want to do.

I read somewhere that when you pull up to the gas pump and complain about the high price of gas, it really means you cannot afford it. So, we all could use more income or a way to save what we have and use it more efficiently.

The first project we did to be more energy efficient was to get the air conditioning to cool the second floor of our home without using as much electricity. There is a duct for supply from and a return duct back to the main unit. Our main ac unit is sized to supply the correct amount of air. However, the initial installer did not provide the correct size supply duct.

We installed a duct fan and eliminated the second floor window air conditioner. Now the upstairs is quite a bit cooler than it was when the window air conditioner was running.
