Emergency Home Plans For Your Family

Custom Search

We decided to put together some emergency home plans. This came about because we had a situation last year that really started us thinking about our family’s survival program.

A major tornado hit within 2,000 feet of our home. It destroyed many of our neighbors’ dwellings. Some homes had no power for several weeks. Even cell phones worked sporadically. We were very fortunate that we had power within a few days. Without power, we had no way too get updates about what was happening.

In our case, we were very lucky because our son lives a few miles from us and he was not affected by the tornado. He also had a generator, so we put it to work. The generator was large enough to run the refrigerator, the freezer and the lights, as well as the TV. The drone of the motor was the only sound in the neighborhood that first night as none of our neighbors were even that prepared.

Emergency home plans to help you survive is a must in today’s society. How long will it take for your local government to step up to the plate to help you survive? We all need to become prepared. Remember Katrina? The government took weeks to get things running again. You and your family may be on your own. So the best thing to do is start planning now!

There are two scenarios to consider.

  1. You have no utilities, but your house is intact and it is safe to stay at home; and
  2. The area is a disaster and your home is uninhabitable and you go to a shelter.
