Stanley FatMax Laser Measuring Tape, Model TLM 100. This is NOT to be confused with a ultrasonic measuring device. The laser can determine accurate distances of +/- ¼ inch at distances of up to 100 feet. This is NOT bad for a tool that cost less than $100. As a realtor, this device makes measuring a client ’s house fast, painless and with good accuracy. This is the current model and will be replaced as soon as I see something more efficient and cheap.









Strait-Line Sonic Laser Tape, Model 60414001CD. This is more cost effective that the FatMax Laser Measuring Tape, but not as precise. It works up to distances of 50 feet and has a resolution of +/- 1 inch. It does not have pin point measuring capabilities. For it ’s time it was much better than using a measuring tape. It ’s now retired. It was replaced by the Stanley FatMax laser.









RYOBI EMTP006. This is a combination ultrasonic measuring device and stud finder. This is two great measuring tools in one. This device was a major disappointment to me. I have several Ryobi tools including a router, a drill, a belt/disc sander and a gas power head with attachments and I have experienced no problems with any of them. This measuring device/stud finder never did work with any accuracy or reliability. Maybe that is why it is no longer in production. This was replaced by a tape measure until I found the Strait-Line Sonic tape.
