More Money Saving Techniques

Here are additional money saving techniques that we use. We are always trying to find ways to stretch our budget. If you do just a few, it will help you save money.

Money money saving techniques

  1. Pay your bills before or when they are due. This way, you avoid late fees and create good credit at the same time.
  2. Cut up your credit cards and start paying with cash.
  3. Keep a check on your bank account so you will not overdraw your account. Nowadays, it is easy. Just check your account on the web daily.
  4. Select a free checking account or one with a no minimum balance requirement. You can save more than $100 a year in fees.
  5. See if you can get free or lower cost checking by having your paycheck direct deposited into your account.
  6. Be aware of which ATMs charge fees and don't use them. Those charges add up fast.

Car 1996 Ford Thunderbird

  1. When buying a car, purchase one that is a couple of years old instead of buying new. You will save a few thousand dollars by doing this.
  2. Make sure you do regular maintenance on your car and do not forget regular oil changes.
  3. Keep your car as long as possible. My car is a 1996. We bought it in 1998 and have faithfully kept up the maintenance. It has over 200,000 miles and it still drives well and looks good. Should the repair bills start to climb, then I would consider trading it in.
  4. Carpool whenever possible. It is a total of 70 miles round trip each day for me to travel to work. I carpool and drive every other week. It saves quite a bit of money on gas alone not to mention the wear and tear on my car.

Pets Beagle Puppy

  1. It is cheaper to buy the larger bag of cat or dog food instead of buying the smaller bags. We have two cats. We buy the large bag. We have a container that seals which we put the amount we will use in about a week and store the rest of the bag in a large plastic garbage bag.
  2. Learn to groom your pet yourself.

Entertainment Candy Bars

  1. Whenever possible, borrow books from the library instead of buying them. The same goes with movies.
  2. Save money at the movies by going before 6 p.m. The tickets are less expensive then.
  3. Snacks are very expensive at the movies so go right after lunch. If you must eat during the movie, bring a candy bar in your purse or pocket.

This is just the beginning. We will keep adding to our money saving techniques. If you have any to add, please visit our Contact Us page and let us know and we will add them here.
