Be a Picture Hanger - Now It's Quick and Easy

Being a picture hanger can be quick and easy now. Johnson Level & Tool Mfg. Company makes a really cool device to help you hang a picture on the wall. It’s called the MRK 24. picture hanger

It is simply two aluminum rails approximately 26 inches long with two plastic caps 4 inches long on each end. It has three sliding position markers and two bubble markers - one horizontal and one vertical.

HERE’S HOW YOU USE IT FOR YOUR PICTURE HANGING

  1. Determine where the mounting screws or brackets will be on the picture that you are hanging.

  2. Slide the appropriate marker so that the holes line up with the mounting screws or brackets.

  3. Hold the device up to the wall where you want the picture to be placed. Without moving the sliding markers, mark the holes on the wall.

  4. Put the device down and insert the anchors in the wall and poof that is all there is.

I picked this device up on a clearance rack at one of the big boxes for just a few dollars. I bought it more out of curiosity than anything else.

This tool has proven itself a worthy tool for those times I have needed to hang a picture. It makes the job go really fast.

The other method I used for years to hang pictures that required two mounting points was to carefully measure the distances between the two points. Then I would mark one side and then the other using a level across the two points or sometimes a straight board and torpedo level.

A POINT TO REMEMBER:

Measuring up from the floor or down from the ceiling does not mean the picture will be level.

The next time you are in a big box store, look around! I have found many useful things to help me get a project completed faster and easier.

Now, on to my next project.
