Saving Money on Food and Drink

Saving money on food Here are some thoughts on saving money on food and drink. We use these and they really make a difference.

  • We limit going out to eat to one or two times a week.
  • We make our coffee at home instead of buying an expensive latte or cappuccino. If you must have your latte or cappuccino, treat yourself by having one once or twice a week instead of every morning.
  • We limit buying lunch out to once a week. I work in Nashville, TN and lunches there are about $8 to $10 a lunch. That adds up quick. If I eat out every day of the week, I would be spending approximately $48 to $50 a week.
  • We use our crock pot a couple times a week, which leaves us leftovers for lunch.
  • We always make a list before going grocery shopping. That helps us save money on groceries.
  • We go to Sam's Club for items such as chicken, fish, meat and laundry soap. Just remember to stick to your list because the cost there can really add up fast.
  • We buy store brand products whenever possible. We just cannot see spending $4.50 for a box of cereal. Store brand is usually around $2.00 and we cannot taste the difference.
I hope at least some of these suggestions help.
