Toilet

by Anonymous

Question: The water closet is not filling up on the toilet when flushed. I filled it up with water and flushed the toilet and everything worked. But, no water came out. I checked to see if the water is on and it is.

Dave's Answer:

When you flush the toilet does the water turn on to refill the tank?

There should be a float of some kind to operate the valve. Depending on the age of the toilet, there will be a large ball that drops or a float that falls. Either way, you should hear water flowing into the tank. The water will stop flowing when the ball or float rises to the top of the tank. There should be a line inside the tank to show the water cutoff position.
