Cool, Useful Tools and Gadgets for Today's Handyperson

TOOLS

I personally have had experience working with all of the tools below. Some, in my opinion, were really bad and some exceeded my expectations. Check them out by clicking on the links below.

Air Flow Gauge or Thermo-Anemometer This is to measure air flow through the home HVAC ducts.

Electronic Measuring Devices Here are some electronic measuring devices I have used and I tell what I think of each of them.

Here is a List of Basic Items Every Home Should Have

  1. Claw Hammer or general purpose hammer: Actually size depends upon usage. A tack hammer is great for picture hanging. A 16 ounce is good for driving large nails.
  2. Screwdrivers: 3 straight tip (small, medium and large) and 2 Phillips (#1 and #2);
  3. A small adjustable wrench: It sometimes is called a monkey wrench or a crescent wrench;
  4. Pliers: There are two styles. Slip joint and channel locks or water pump pliers.
  5. A tape measure or two;

  6. A utility knife with replaceable blades.
  7. A scraper knife or razor blade scraping knife.
  8. A basic toilet plunger.
  9. A flashlight; and
  10. An assortment of sandpaper.
