Want to Sell Your House Quickly, Fix It Upby Julia
When you put a house on the market the goal is obvious: sell your house quickly and get a good price. In order to accomplish this goal, it is imperative that the house attract buyers. To attract buyers, the house must be appealing. Fortunately, there are many quick and easy fixes (most of which can be DIY projects) that can make the house attractive. This will help you reach your original goal...to sell it. 1. Grab a brush or roller and start painting: A fresh coat of paint can make an enormous difference to the interior and exterior. Stick with neutral colors to appeal to the broadest audience. 2. Caulk, spackle, and polish: Re-caulk windows to help with energy efficiency. Replace caulk in the bathrooms and kitchens for a fresh, clean look. Spackle holes in the walls and polish fixtures indoor and out. Clean houses are more inviting for buyers. 3. Check and repair major systems: You don’t have to replace every appliance, but do make sure that the current ones are in working order. This goes for the AC and furnace too. 4. Fix leaks: Dripping water or running toilets are not eco-friendly or attractive to buyers. Most leaks can easily be repaired. 5. Landscaping: Clean up the yard and repair or remove any unsightly plants, trees, and/or fences. 6. Make minor changes: You don’t have to perform a total kitchen or bathroom renovation (which can be very costly) to make your house attractive when simple upgrades or replacements can do the trick. Replacing light fixtures, towel racks, faucets, and other hardware can be cost effective and make a huge difference in the appearance of the home (especially with the fresh caulk). Fixing up a house to sell does not have to take a lot of time or a lot of money. If you enjoy repairing, renovating, and sprucing up a property to sell, consider a career as a real estate investor.
